The morning went by smoothly with no other incident, as Drizzt slept most of the day only waking when they stopped for a meal or to stretch his legs.  By mid-afternoon, he was in a pretty good mood and felt very energetic.
“’Treri, I want to get down,” Drizzt said, kicking his legs slightly.
“No, you’ll only slow us down if I let you walk.”  He replied.  Drizzt pouted slightly.  “Let me get down please?”  Drizzt tried.  Artemis was silent for a moment but his answer remained the same.  “No, now stop asking.”  Drizzt sighed but didn’t ask Artemis again.  Instead he asked Catti-brie.  “Catti-brie, can you help me get down please?”  He asked her sweetly.  Catti-brie smiled at him.
“Of course I can,” she said as she helped him out of the backpack.  She set him on the ground and he reached up to hold her hand.  Catti-brie let him of course.  Artemis just rolled his eyes and pretended to ignore them, but in reality he couldn’t help but glance at them every so often.
It wasn’t long before Drizzt was stumbling every other step and tripping over his own feet, slowing everyone down in the process.  Artemis glanced down at him in irritation but said nothing, and Drizzt didn’t even notice his look as he was too busy watching his feet to make sure he didn’t trip and fall yet again but to no use.  Wulfgar winked at Catti-brie before scooping Drizzt up in his arms and putting him up on his shoulders.
“Hey!”  Drizzt said in surprise and protest.
“Hey what?”  Wulfgar replied smiling even though he knew Drizzt couldn’t see his smile.
“I can walk Wulfgar,” he said crossing his arms and pouting slightly, but really he was only saying that for show.  I’m up so high…  He thought.
“I know you can, I just thought you would like to take a break.”  Wulfgar said to him.  Drizzt leaned forward against Wulfgar’s head, placing his crossed arms on top.
“Okay…”  Drizzt said, still pouting but not really minding too much.  Catti-brie couldn’t help at least a small laugh as she looked up at Drizzt’s pouty face.  Drizzt looked a little surprised as he looked down at her.
“What’s so funny?”  He asked in confusion.  Catti-brie stopped laughing but kept smiling as she replied in a light hearted tease, “Nothing little one.  You just look so young sitting up there on his shoulders like that.”  Drizzt blushed, his dark skin tinted a slightly darker than usual color on his cheeks.
“I’m not that little…”  He said quietly, forcing a slight embarrassed smile, hiding that he was starting to get a little upset.
“Ye’re smaller even than Rumblebelly!”  Bruenor said also in a light hearted tone.  Regis chuckled and shook his head, “I guess so,” he replied.  “And now he’s taken my spot,” he added with mock irritation but made it clear with his tone that he was only joking.  Drizzt however, wasn’t in the mood for joking around. He then began trying to climb down from Wulfgar’s shoulders.  I’m not little, I don’t need to force my friends to carry me around, Drizzt thought.  Wulfgar however thought that he was slipping and so tried to steady him.  But Drizzt squirmed away from him and began to fall backwards with a startled shout.  Luckily Artemis was nearby and dashed forward just in time to catch him.  He moved Drizzt to his hip, ignoring the startled looks from Wulfgar and Bruenor and the worried glances of concern from Catti-brie and Regis directed at Drizzt.
“You should really be more careful with an infant.”  Artemis said shortly, walking ahead of the group.  Drizzt simply held onto Artemis tightly, with the irrational fear that he would fall again if he didn’t.  To Drizzt’s surprise however, Artemis began rubbing his back in, what he could only describe as, a soothing manner.  He relaxed at his touch unwittingly and laid his head on his shoulder.  After only a little while longer, Drizzt distantly heard someone say that it was time to stop for the night.  He yawned as he felt himself being set down on the ground and rubbed his eyes sleepily.  Gentle hands began carefully undressing him so that more comfortable night clothing could be put on him.  It was then that he felt a small but firm poke on his belly, waking Drizzt up a little from his sleepy trance.
“You certainly are chubby for an elf, even if you are just a child now.”  Artemis, the one who had poked Drizzt’s stomach said.  Drizzt gave him an undignified pout, “I am not chubby,” he retorted.
“Oh yeah?  Have you not looked in a mirror recently?  Without all your training and experience you’re just a chubby little helpless baby.”  Artemis said as he poked Drizzt’s stomach again.  Placing his hands over his stomach to protect it from further poking, Drizzt glared at him.
“I’m not a helpless baby!”  Artemis raised an eyebrow at him skeptically.
“Really now?”  He said as he laid Drizzt down on a blanket to finish getting him ready for bed.  Drizzt nodded, still glaring at him.  “I see.  Then I guess you can fight off a single goblin all by yourself without me having to save you, right?”  Drizzt started looking less sure of himself, “Well…”  He began, but then couldn’t think of what he could say to that and remained silent.  Artemis waited for his answer for several minutes after he had completed getting him ready to go to bed, but he knew the answer wouldn’t come.
“That’s what I thought.”  He picked Drizzt up and carried him to the side of the fire so he could eat.

The dark of night surrounded the camp, all but one was fast asleep on the ground near a fire pit to stave off the frigid winter air.  A figure approached the one who was awake and seemingly alert, coming up from behind.  He smiled before speaking quietly.
“I’m back Artemis.”  Jarlaxle grinned widely as his companion spun around with his two weapons at the ready, cursing as he say who it was.
“Blast you, you stupid drow.”  Artemis muttered under his breath along with a few less than wholesome words of choice.
“Miss me?  Because I sure didn’t miss you too much.” Jarlaxle said with a quiet chuckle.  Artemis simply raised an eyebrow.
“Is that so?  Then why do I get the pleasure of seeing you tonight?”  He asked sarcastically.  With the same grin as before, Jarlaxle spoke.
“Well you see my dear friend, I need you and Drizzt to come with me.  Mostly Drizzt but you’re welcome to come too.”  He teased lightly at the end.  With a glare filled with annoyance and…  Protactiveness?  Jarlaxle noted the uncommon emotion on his face as Artemis stood.
“What do you need him for?”
“Oh not much, and not for very long.  Just most wizards and historians and other strange people have never had the chance to see a young drow and who knows how much they might pay to meet him?  Plus, do have any idea how many would love to see the mighty ranger Drizzt Do’Urden reduced to a child?  Just think of how much we could profit!”  Jarlaxle continued to ramble on about all the possibilities in a hushed voice while Artemis alternated between glaring at him, and glancing over to Drizzt’s tiny sleeping form.
“But anyways, we should really get going!”  Faster than Artemis could react, Jarlaxle scooped Drizzt up into his arms along with all of their belongings.  He then placed a hand on Artemis’ shoulder and a magical brightness engulfed them.

When Artemis could see again he saw that he was no longer in the same forest as before, that much was obvious.  Instead, he was now in a large beautifully furnished room, decorated with varying shades of red and blue.  The room was clearly a sitting area, with plenty of furniture to lounge on and three different tables, with bookshelves also scattered about the room.  An open doorway was on the opposite wall leading to what looked like a bedroom.  Artemis took a deep breath before forcing a calm expression and tone after viewing his new surroundings.
“Where, in the nine hells, are we.”  He ground out between clenched teeth.  Jarlaxle and turned to him and smiled broadly.
“This will be our new home!”  He exclaimed, gesturing animatedly to the room with one arm while holding the still sleeping Drizzt in the other.  “Isn’t it wonderful?”
