ONE STEP FORWARD, FOUR STEPS BACK
A THOR/AVENGERS FANFICTION
CHAPTER TWENTY SIX: Reunions
The next two days went by smoothly, everyone doing their part in preparing for Odin’s arrival. They had all decided that Thor would do most of the talking and that the others would act as witnesses for Thor. In the event that the negotiations were to fail, it was planned that Jane would flee with Loki to her parents’ house until (or if) all of this was cleared up. Loki knew about it and was told by Thor to prepare a backpack for that day so that he wouldn’t have to worry about clothing. Pepper agreed to help the boy pack since the

Homeschooling: The Better Choice
In the past few years, more and more families have taken their children out of the public school system and have begun homeschooling. What was once considered an uncommon concept, has now become better integrated into the public consciousness. In their book, The McGraw Hill Homeschooling Companion, Laura Saba and Julie Gattis explain that the number of homeschooled students increased by five times from 300,000 to 1,500,000 between the years of 1990 and 1998 alone (1). Brian D. Ray, Ph.D. of the National Home Education Research Institute, estimates the current number

Erik was bored. In fact, bored was too mild a word to reflect his state of mind which could more accurately be described as one of torturous mind-numbing tedium.
He couldn't sleep. He had been tossing and turning all night and had finally woken, uncomfortable, sweaty and frustrated, with his legs tangled in his sheets.
He was not alone in being in this unhappy state. In fact, the vast majority of the occupants of the opera house were now staring moodily at the ceiling just as he was, counting the cracks in the stones or plaster.
The cause of this collective insomnia was, ironically, the one person in the building who was fas

Erik was panicking. Quite severely in fact.
He was sat cross-legged on his bed, surrounding by heaps of books, skim-reading desperately. The multitude of books were not strange in themselves, Erik was a well read man and there were books strewn everywhere around his cave, mostly books on mythology and accounts of the lives of the great composers. He had spent many a long and happy evening curled on his bed, engrossed in tales from far flung lands, his heart and mind so lost in the stories that he forgot his unhappy life and disfigured face.
No, reading

Erik was humming happily, his fingers tapping lightly over the keys of his piano. He was feeling remarkably content, he could feel a song hatching in the back of his mind if he could just commit it to paper before he forgot it . . .
Needless to say his good mood was shattered moments later when he was hit around the head by a carelessly thrown duffel bag. He fell against the piano keys, causing a discordant mess of notes to clang out of the keys.
"You ought to be more careful Nosy; you'll break that wretched thing." A horribly familiar voice said from a few feet away.
An emphatic ' Ah Merde!' hissed between Erik's cle
Deep in the drow city of Menzoberranzan a shadow was making its way cautiously around the exterior of a large house which -curiously- had mushrooms planted around it. The shadow approached one of the mushrooms and due to a sudden random impulse gave it a poke.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! yelled the mushroom.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! screamed the shadow.
INTRUDER!!! yelled the mushroom.
RUN AWAY!!! screamed the shadow, and away it ran.
Not long after a group of guards had assembled around the mushroom.
Whered the intruder go?
How do you expect me to know?
